Olympics basketball

This post probably wont interest any of u all ( except Nick of course ) but i'm really pumped up after watching USA vs AUS two nights ago so i just feel like letting it all out.

Firstly, this is just gonna be about team USA ( obviously cause it consists of NBA players ). One thing's for sure, this ain't no Dream Team. Only two real veterans in the form of Tim Duncan and Iverson , and 3 rookies. Don't get me wrong , they're still super talented , but definitely not the best. My starting line up would be :

Point guard : Iverson
Shooting guard : Carmelo Anthony
Small forward : Lebron James
Power forward : Amare / Marion ( prefer Marion tho )
Center : Tim Duncan

Yup. Marbury doesnt make the cut being the point. He's totally lost his offensive abilities and he's not defending too well either ( i saw aussie point guards blowing past him many times ) Besides , team USA doesn't need a proper point guard. They live on individual talents anyway. Why is Carmelo and Lebron in ? They're young , but they're damn good. Carmelo needs to be there to shoot. US struggled cause everyone on the team was reluctant to shoot the 3 , and when they did , it barely threatened the ring. Lebron , in my opinion , is the best one-man-show guy in the team. He brings so much energy to the game , and he can score or create for his teammates. That's wat the team needs since they havent trained set plays long enough. In the PF spot, Marion is such a great offensive weapon and he can jump pretty darn high to collect those rebounds. Jefferson , dont get me started about it. He just sucks to the max. I dont understand how they he got into the team anyway. Same with Lamar Odom , i just dont think he's that good. Timmy and Iverson , still doing wat they do best. Still the best players in the team. Marbury and Amare can come of the bench to rotate the lineup a lil. Or maybe Odom once in a while. ( No Jefferson pls , i havent seen Ofakur play )

Despite the two disappointing losses to Italy and Puerto Rico, im still opting for US to win this one. US no doubt still has the best offensive team , but they have to learn to defend the perimeter. The 3 point line is shorter now , and other teams are exploiting it. If Larry Brown can finally get the team to improve defensively , US is unbeatable. Offense is not a problem , with such a talented group. They'll flow somehow. One thing though , international referee sucks >=P

That's all for now. I just hope they show more Olympic basketball on TV....

Yeah man. I agree with you on the Marion and Jefferson point. Marion's better then Amare. And Jefferson, haih. And Lebron's the best individual player there along with AI and Carmelo. But to me, if they want to run set plays, all the plays should go through Tim Duncan. Start with the big man, I say. Odom's good, though. And yes, this ain't no dream team. Far from it. If they were to choose the NBA's real best 5 players, I think it'll be something like this

C Shaq PF Duncan SF Garnett SG Kobe PG Mcgrady/Kidd
